Pretty Privilege Tokyo Guide

September 7, 2026

Tokyo is one of those cities where you could stay for a month and still have a Notes app full of places you haven’t been. Between the tiny neighbourhood spots, late-night bars, dreamy gardens and shopping streets, there’s always somewhere new to add to the itinerary.

So, naturally, we’ve done the adding for you.

From where to go when you want a very good cocktail to the sushi dinner we’d absolutely make a booking for, here are a few Tokyo spots currently sitting very high on our list.

Start the day somewhere dreamy

Gaien National Garden is the kind of place we’d put on the itinerary for a slower Tokyo morning.

Think seasonal blooms, beautiful greenery and a little breathing room away from the chaos of the city. Grab a coffee, put your phone away for approximately five minutes and go for a wander.

It’s giving romanticise your life in Tokyo.

Make dinner an experience

If there’s one thing we’re making time for, it’s Omakase Sushi Hatsume.

An omakase dinner is already an experience, but this is one we’d be very tempted to build an entire evening around. Beautiful sushi, a more intimate setting and the kind of meal you’ll still be talking about when you get home.

Our advice? Make the booking and thank us later.

Then go somewhere for a drink

For late-night drinks, Ginza Music Bar is very much our vibe.

A moody vinyl bar with great cocktails and even better atmosphere, it’s the kind of place you go when you want the night to feel a little more special than simply grabbing a drink.

Good music, low lighting, cocktails. We’re sold.

Give yourself an afternoon for Ginza

You can’t really do Tokyo without giving yourself a proper shopping moment, and Ginza Plaza is where we’d start.

Spend a few hours wandering through the area, popping into stores and discovering the Japanese brands you’ll inevitably want to bring home.

No promises about how much room will be left in your suitcase.

Do something completely different

teamLab is one for when you’ve had enough of traditional sightseeing.

The immersive digital art experience surrounds you with light, colour and moving installations that you can actually walk through. It’s futuristic, slightly surreal and definitely something you’ll want on the camera roll.

Very Tokyo. Very worth seeing.

End the night somewhere a little chaotic

For a completely different side of Tokyo, head to Omoide Yokocho.

This tiny alleyway in Shinjuku is packed with little izakayas, yakitori spots and local bites, with narrow streets and old-school Tokyo charm at every turn.

There’s no need for a perfectly planned dinner here. Just wander, find somewhere that looks good and order something delicious.

The Tokyo list we’d actually save

If you’re building your Tokyo itinerary, here’s the quick version:
